SANT (Stand-off Anti-Tank missile), also referred to by its developmental “Nag (Cobra) Stand-off Anti-Tank” designation, is a helicopter-launched precision-guided anti-tank missile developed by DRDO as a longer-range successor to the HELINA (helicopter-launched Nag), intended for the IAF and Army’s attack-helicopter fleets.[1]

Design

SANT is fitted with a millimetre-wave (MMW) active radar homing seeker for high-precision terminal guidance, giving it accurate strike capability from a stand-off distance beyond most tank/vehicle self-protection and short-range air-defence engagement envelopes. Baseline versions provide an engagement range up to about 10 km, while an upgraded configuration adding an electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) imaging seeker alongside the nose-mounted MMW radar seeker extends effective range to approximately 15–20 km.[2]

Testing

DRDO and the Indian Air Force have successfully flight-tested SANT from helicopter platforms, validating its stand-off precision-strike capability against armoured and other high-value point targets as part of India’s broader anti-tank guided-missile modernisation alongside the Nag/HELINA family.[3]
