Prithvi-III is a two-stage, solid-fuelled variant in DRDO’s Prithvi ballistic missile family, developed with an extended range and naval-strike orientation compared to the original liquid-fuelled Prithvi-I.[1]
Prithvi-III has a mass of about 5,600 kg, a length of 8.56 m and a diameter of 100 cm, and uses a two-stage solid-rocket propulsion system rather than Prithvi-I’s liquid-fuel engine, giving it an operational range of roughly 350–750 km depending on payload configuration. Its naval-launched derivative shares the Dhanush codename used for shipborne variants of the Prithvi-I/III family.[1]
