Agni-II is a two-stage, solid-fuelled, rail/road-mobile medium-range ballistic missile developed by DRDO, extending India’s strategic reach beyond the shorter-range Agni-I to cover targets across the depth of the Pakistan theatre and into western China.[1]
DRDO began developing Agni-II in July 1997 as a follow-on to Agni-I, using an all-solid-fuel two-stage propulsion design intended to improve mobility and reduce launch-preparation time compared with the original liquid-fuelled Agni demonstrator.[1]
