The Magar-class are amphibious warfare vessels (tank landing ships) built for the Indian Navy, providing troop, vehicle and armour transport plus beach-landing capability, and forming the design basis for the later, larger Shardul-class.[1]
Magar-class ships displace 5,665 tons full load, with a length of 120 m and a 17.5 m beam, achieving a top speed of 15 knots. The class carries a complement of 136 personnel including 16 officers, with capacity for 15 tanks and 8 armoured personnel carriers, plus four Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) and one embarked Sea King helicopter for troop insertion and logistics support.[1]
