The Long-Awaited Delivery of GE F404 Engines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After numerous delays, the GE F404 engine delivery for the LCA Mk1A has finally begun. This marks a crucial moment for India’s indigenous fighter jet program, preventing it from slipping into dormancy. On March 25, GE Aerospace announced the delivery of the first of 99 F404-IN20 engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GE’s Long-Standing Partnership with India & GE F404<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GE Aerospace has collaborated with India for military jet propulsion since the 1980s. In 2004, India selected the F404-IN20 engine for the single-engine Tejas fighter, marking a breakthrough for both India and GE Aerospace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The F404 engine family is one of the most successful in military aviation history. It powers thousands of combat aircraft worldwide. The F404-IN20 engine, specifically designed for India’s Tejas fighter, features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The highest thrust in the F404 family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A higher-flow fan for improved performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Unique single-crystal turbine blades for durability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
