The Defence Ministry recently approved the procurement of six additional Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) systems, reinforcing India\u2019s aerial surveillance network. These advanced platforms, known as Netra Mk1A, will be an upgraded version of the existing Netra AEW&C systems. With this expansion, the Indian Air Force (IAF) aims to strengthen its network-centric warfare (NCW) capabilities, improve battle-space awareness, and enhance electronic intelligence (ELINT) gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IAF will induct six additional Netra Mk1A systems while also considering replacements for the two currently in service. Currently, India operates three AEW&C platforms, with one managed by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
