The Sukanya-class are offshore patrol vessels operated jointly by the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, among the earlier indigenous OPV designs providing extended-range maritime patrol, surveillance and light combat capability, with several units also serving as test/trial platforms for new Indian naval systems, including missile launches.[1]
Sukanya-class vessels displace 1,890 tons full load, measuring 101.1 m in length with an 11.5 m beam and 4.4 m draught, achieving a top speed of 21 knots with a range of 5,800 nautical miles at 15 knots cruising speed. The complement is around 140 personnel including 15 officers. Armament includes a 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun and four 12.7 mm machine guns, with capacity for one embarked HAL Chetak helicopter.[1]
